　　種子島最初のハットする瞬間は、ＨⅡAロケットの形をした赤い灯台である。ほとんどのお客様が船内で到着のアナウンスを聞くまで眠りについているので気づく方が少ない。種子島は、ロケットの島なのである。

海岸の駐車場に車を置き砂浜を歩き続けると巨大な岩が立ちはだかる。その岩には細長いトンネルがあり中をくぐって行くと千人も座れると言われる洞窟に直面する。波と風の力により形成された洞窟である。
種子島は、海が創った島なのである。

延々と続くサトウキビ、唐芋畑を走り、一歩ルートを外すと渓流と広葉樹と針葉樹がドームをなす田舎道に迷ってしまう。種子島には山といったものはないが距離にして６キロ程度だが、森林に迷ったような錯覚に陥ってしまう。そう、種子島はミネラルが降り注ぐ自然の島なのである。
